Massachusetts Governor Alexander Bullock reviews the case against Edward Green and finds that Green should be executed.
Green was the postmaster of Malden Massachusetts and in heavy debt. When he found the local bank only staffed by the teenage son of the president of the institution, he retrieved a gun and shot the boy dead and stole $5000. A short investigation led to his arrest and conviction for murder. McDade 382.
This was the first armed bank robbery in which a person was murdered. (Inventory #: 1356)
