Introduction to the Committee, which was founded in 1966 in order "to inspire, promote, and guide political action which will help restore, maintain, and strengthen our republic...in accordance with the basic concepts of government as followed by the Founding Fathers of our nation." The Chairman of the Committee was William J. Grede (former president of the National Association of Manufacturers and a member of the executive (truncated) committee of the John Birch Society) and Dean Clarence Manion was a Vice Chairman.
