London: Royal Society of London, 1902. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Norman Lockyer (1836-1920) and Frances Cranmer Penrose (1817-1903) acccurately predict the date of Stonehenge (1680 BC) by measuring the difference between its orientation and the direction of sunrise at the summer solstice (1 degree and 12 arc seconds) and calculating how many years ago this would have been given changes in the Earth's rotation. Carbon dating now has it at 1848 BC.
