Russell was one of the founders of the far-right British People's Party and a supporter of Social Credit. Here he defends capitalism, writing that "nearly four fifths of the evils popularly ascribed to Capitalism...are in reality due to the defective monetary system; to out-of-date ideas on the subject of income in relation to employment; and to inability to see that the deserving unemployed can, and should, be supported adequately, (truncated) with money not derived from taxation.
