Lyon County, Kansas, 1868. Unbound. Near Fine. Autograph Letter Signed. Octavo. 2pp., Waterloo, Lyon Co., Kansas: 7mo 28, 1868. In ink, with the location and date overwritten in pencil. Two light horizontal folds, near fine. Written by John M. Wetherell, a wealthy Quaker businessman from Philadelphia interested in purchasing land for a Quaker colony in Kansas. Writing to his wife and children, Wetherell describes taking a tour of lands in Franklin County and “through the Sac & Fox reserve to their lands in Osage Co. & since to part of those in Osage & Lyon County …” He expects “to get over the balance tomorrow,” and “to be at Friend’s meeting (truncated)
