1900s Wisconsin WWI Military Family Album - Soldier Training Camp, Family Portraits, Logging Scenes, Country and Cityscapes

Early 1900s-1920s military family photo album from Wisconsin featuring a soldier training camp, logging scenes, and family portraits and group photos. Approximately 310 silver gelatin photographs; two are captioned. Brown leather album covers; 10" x 12". Photos are pasted onto cream leaves. Photos measure 2 ½" x 4 ¼" to 3 ¾" x 5". There are 27 training camp photos, the remaining family images help to compose a complete image of early 20th century life. This album depicts one family likely living near Winona, Wisconsin. There are 27 photos depicting soldiers at a training camp, circa WW.I based on the uniforms. This camp could possibly be Camp Emory Upton (truncated) or Camp Robinson, both in Monroe County, Wisconsin, and now joined into one camp called Fort McCoy. The soldiers stayed in tents, and one image depicts the men filling their camp beds with hay. There are images of the soldiers training on the firing range, jumping over barricades, standing to attention and carrying their infantry equipment, and some images of the soldiers with rifles on the move others of soldiers around their tents, or having fun. The Album also includes many scenes that depict family outings likely along the Mississippi River in Wisconsin and nearby lakes. There are a handful of 1915-1925 logging scenes and even an image of a horse drawn car of the Oshkosh St. Ry. Co. Album covers have some wear and spine has heavy chipping though remains in tact; a few album leaves are detached from the binding and 3 photos are missing. Photos are crisp and clear with less than a dozen being blurry. Overall very good condition. (Inventory #: 17587)
