A SCARCE AND IMPORTANT YIDDISH CHILDREN'S BOOK WITH POEMS BY ABRAHAM REISEN (1876 - 1953). REISEN'S POETRY IS ACCOMPANIED BY COLOR MODERNIST ILLUSTRATIONS BY VARIOUS JEWISH ARTISTS.
Abraham Reisen was a "Yiddish Poet, short- story writer, playwright and editor. He was born in Russia, travelled to Minsk, Warsaw, Krakow, and Berlin - until he came to New York in 1914.
His poetry, "while having an understated romanticism and melancholy irony, a proportion of his work criticizes the poverty and social problems of the day" (Dan Wyman, 2012).
Each page has a poem framed by modernist color illustrations (usually one or two colors) (truncated)
