(Nashville, Tennessee), 1940. Near Fine. A collection of 13 broadside posters and flyers ranging from about 5 ½” x 8½” to 12” x 16½”. All were designed by African-American magician Fetaque Sanders to advertise his stage performances and the publication of a book on magic. One flyer is lightly stained at the upper right corner, else all are near fine with a few small closed edge tears. Sanders was born in Nashville, Tennessee: his father was of mixed race and his mother was part Native American. He began his career at the Chicago World's Fair (in the Enchanted Island Children's Theatre), and later joined the Mighty Haag Circus. In 1939 he moved to Washington, (truncated)
