Cropping annotations in manuscript pencil, provenance stamp and label of film historian "Maurice Bessy," and "Le Caporal Epingle" stamp, all on verso.

A comedic account of a French aristocrat's repeated attempts to escape from a German POW camp during WWII. A companion piece to Renoir's earlier, WWI set masterpiece "Le Grande Illusion" (1937).
