London (?): NP, Likely 1912 but undated. 19pp. Narrow small folio. Book condition: Very good but cloth spine is brittle and has long cracks at spine ends. Front board is at risk of detachment. Internally very clean. Contains the charter and bye-laws. Hand-written amendments by Baden-Powell occur on pages 14 and 15, dated 1915.. The original Royal Charter was issued in 1912. Preliminary drafts were likely made prior to the final version. We find no evidence of charters being (truncated) issued between 1912 and 1915, when the holograph notes by Baden-Powell were made. A space for ""The Great Seal"" on the final page has not been utilized. Therefor, we believe this is a preliminary copy of the original 1912 Charter containing Baden-Powell's amendments for a later edition of the charter. Though not signed by Baden-Powell, the context is sound and the handwriting is unmistakably his. Extremely rare item in any version or condition. Particularly desirable with the notes..
