Ownership signature of "Nora Greene / Gresham" on the engraved title page. First published in 1771 and again in 1774, bringing Beattie (1745-1803), by profession a moral philosopher, praise and fame. The poem raised nature description to a new level, was deeply influential on subsequent writers, and was (truncated) reprinted in numerous editions. (Inventory #: 58779)
