by Milne, A.A.; Fraser-Simson, H.; Shepard, Ernest H.
New York: E.P. Dutton, 1925. Fine in very good jacket.. First American edition of this collection of verses from Milne's wildly popular WHEN WE WERE VERY YOUNG, the first Pooh book, set to music. In the months after the astonishing success of his first attempt at light children's verse, Milne "had been approached by all sorts of composers wanting to set them to music" (Thwaite). In the end, Milne chose Fraser-Simson for the task – mainly because little Christopher Robin "was extremely fond of the Fraser-Simson's liver-and-white spaniel, Henry Woggins; they often met on their daily walks" (Thwaite). Milne was thrilled with the result, published here, (truncated)
