First Edition/First Printing in a 1st state dust jacket with the "R" colophon on the copyright page, "A Word from the Publisher" blurb on the front flap with no reviews and $4.00 price intact; A Near fine book in a Near Fine dust jacket. An outstanding copy of this author's first book, a classic of World War II, and considered one of the great works of 20th Century Literature. Scarce in the first printing/first state jacket in near fine or better condition. This copy is in near fine condition with a square, tight binding, bright white lettering over black boards, and clean pages throughout with just a hint of foxing to the edges; the book does show mild rubbing to the spine ends and lower boards (common for the title), and a gentle bump to both top corners, else fine. Housed in a crisp and bright near fine dust jacket that shows only some light rubbing and chipping to the spine ends and corners, minor creasing along the fold edges, and just a mild fading to the spine. A must have for the 20th century literature collector or the WWII fiction enthusiast! Not remaindered, not price clipped ($4.00 intact), and not ex-library; in archival protection and will ship in a sturdy box.
