Archive of two stereoviews of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Images show destruction in the northeastern part of San Francisco facing towards the Bay. On April 18, 1906, San Francisco was struck by a 7.9 magnitude earthquake which killed over 3,000 and destroyed over 80% of the city. The quake was the deadliest in United States history and remains one of the most destructive natural disasters in the nation to this day. These images show detailed scenes of the city's destruction, including wide rifts opened along paved streets and entire city blocks leveled and burned in the resulting fires.
