Timothy Pickering (1745-1829) was a important Federalist politician who served as Secretary of State, Secretary of War, and Postmaster General under George Washington. He retired from politics in 1816 and returned to his hometown of Salem where he became involved in the local agricultural community. Here he provides his opinions on various aspects of farming, including seasonal rotation, proper crop management, ploughing techniques, (truncated) etc. American Imprints 2770; Sabin 62659.
