Glaser (1896 – 1969) who managed the careers of several jazz musicians and singers including Billie Holiday became Armstrong's manager in 1935. Armstrong, also known Satchmo, gained importance in the 1920s as an innovative cornet and trumpet player as well as an improvisational jazz singer.
