1950 · [Richmond?]
by Old Dominion Real Estate Company
[Richmond?], 1950. Very Good. Broadside notice 22 x 14 cm. Modest browning. John Jasper, 1812-1901, was a nationally known African American preacher from Virginia, perhaps most famous for his sermon "The Sun do Move." While it is hard to imagine that a Richmond real estate developer would have used this name in the 1950s or perhaps earlier for anything other than a project or development aimed at African Americans, we found nothing online that made clear the nature of this development. M. H. Omohundro, President of the real estate company, is described on the website of the Omohundro Institute as being descended from a Huguenot family who settled in Virginia in 1670.
