One-page letter from Hawthorne to his son Julian's teacher regarding his education. Written one year before the author's death: "My Dear Sir,/ I thank you for the letter/ which you have so kindly written,/ defining Julian's progress in/ his studies, and am grateful/ that you find it possible to say/ so much good of him - a great/ part of which, I am sure, must be owing to your own beneficial influence over your pupil."
