Tipped in at the front are three autograph letters signed (ALS) by George Cruikshank (1792-1878), the British caricaturist and book illustrator who supplied the hand-colored frontispiece engraving in this, the second of two memoirs of London high society by the English fencing master. Octavo. In a three-quarter brown morocco over marbled paper binding by Henderson & Bisset of Edinburgh, with handsome gilt decorations, five raised bands, and matching marbled endpapers. The bookplate of Andrew J. Kirkpatrick appears on the front pastedown. The spine is a touch sun faded, with (truncated)
