by LINCOLN, Joseph C.
Merion, Pa., 1926. A typed letter signed on personalized Merion Manor stationery, dated March 31, 1926. A rather unusual letter responding to a request for a clam chowder recipe. Lincoln states that writer is "asking too much of me when you request the recipe for clam chowder. I agree with you that the variety found in other sections of the country is at best a poor substitute for the real thing." He does say he will consult Mrs. Lincoln for help and then he writes a lengthy postscript, explaining the difference between Manhattan and New England clam chowders. He suggests Fannie Farmer's "Boston Cook Book" for a recipe. Then initialed by Lincoln. Single (truncated)
