Based on a series of lectures, this study examines the questions of taxation, capital and labor organizations, strikes and boycotts and other major social issues. The solutions he gives are inspired by the principles of Christian philosophy and adapted to the actual conditions of society. Father Holaind [1836-1913], a Jesuit, was a notable neo-scholastic philosopher. He was Professor of Ethics and Sociology at Woodstock College, and Lecturer on Natural and Canon Law at Georgetown University.
